SCHOOL WORKSHOPS/TRAINING

Here I am in Liverpool Cathedral leading multiple schools in a vibrant performance at the end of a singing workshop day. Bringing voices together as one is one of life’s greatest joys for all involved!

Over the years I have built up a wealth of experience in leading singing workshops for children and young people and find it a joy to sing with each class, choir or full assembly hall!

Here’s what I offer:

• Singing workshops - designed to meet your needs whether it’s a one-off or short term project, I can bring healthy + expressive singing using a range of warm-ups and songs (from engaging pop songs to fun a Capella songs from around the world). Workshops may also include songwriting too.

• School staff mentoring/training - designed to upskill + build confidence in the singing staff in order to enrich the children/young people’s singing experience. This could be mentoring one or two choir leaders to support their development (for example, to introduce harmony singing) or a whole staff INSET workshop to provide easy ideas + simple songs for class singing.

COMMUNITY CHOIRS/TRAINING

After years of leading youth, teachers and adult choirs in a mix of education and community settings I am delighted to have taken up the invitation to be Choir Director for Bootle Youth Choir (open to those in Year 3 to Year 11) and Bootle Community Choir with The Orrell Trust. So if you or your child would like to join then go ahead and get in touch!

For me, community singing is all about:

  • Singing spaces that are centred on everyone being free to take part and enjoy a communal activity.

  • A place to escape the day-to-day and connect with others through enjoyable songs and conversation.

  • Singing a range of songs - a mix of the familiar and the new! That could be anything from well-known traditional or pop songs to gospel, folk, and some a Capella songs for good measure.

  • No singing experience or ‘talent’ needed! Bring your voice to the mix and hear the wonderful sound we can create together.

  • A safe place to try new things - group singing, learning harmonies, make new friends, try different styles of music, perhaps choose to perform to others…

  • Experience the health benefits of singing with others for yourself. From mood improvements to pain management to better breathing.

Here’s what I offer:

• Choir directing - I bring high-quality and inclusive direction and leadership to choirs I am invited to be a part of and support vocal health and development through a range of warm-ups as well as tailoring vocal harmony arrangements to each choir to create engaging pop songs to moving gospel songs to a Capella songs from around the world and sometimes even brand new songs I write specially for or with the choirs!

• Choir leader mentoring/training - designed to upskill + build confidence in less experienced choir leaders who are keen to develop in order to enrich their choir’s singing experience. This may include online elements as well as practical training and co-leading.
